The Mid-Year Check-In: Feeding the Soul and Quieting the Noise

Hey y'all! Can you believe we are already halfway through the year? Back in January, I promised myself I would trade empty, mindless routines for filling, intentional rituals by embracing my Word of the Year: Nourish.

The first half of this year has been a beautiful masterclass in what it actually means to nourish your creative soul. It hasn’t been about perfect routines ; it’s been about saying "yes" to the magic of the world and a giant "no" to the digital noise.

Filling My Cup on the Road 🧳✨

This year, I have been incredibly blessed to take several trips, and wow—talk about a feast for the senses. Whether wandering through bustling markets, soaking in new textures, or sitting quietly with my journal, every single trip acted as a massive refill for my creative well.

I’ve gathered new colors, new inspirations, and a renewed sense of wonder. This year has proven that sometimes, the most productive thing you can do for your art is to go out and live.

The Power of Silencing the Pockets 📱🤫

But here’s the flip side: it’s hard to truly absorb the magic of a trip if your pocket is constantly buzzing. A few months into my "Year of Nourish," I realized a sneaky culprit was draining my cup faster than I could fill it: social media notifications.

So, I turned them all off. The shift was instant. Once the initial urge to check faded, I found pure peace. By reclaiming control over when I engage with the digital world, I gave myself permission to be fully present in the physical one. Instead of scrolling mindlessly through creative blocks, I'm sitting in the "messy middle" and letting the art figure itself out.

Less Scrolling, More Strolling

Nourishment isn't a one-time meal; it's a practice. I'm returning to the studio with full hands, a quiet mind, and an eager heart. As we head into the second half of the year, I want to keep this momentum going—less reacting to the algorithm, and more reacting to the joy of creating.
