No Paint Just Collage

A Few Tips and Tricks on using collage.

The power of Giblets from the scrap bin! So I have started a Monday’s Tutorial Series where I use this amazing (picture below) Cabinet to house my giblets (the most amazing scraps you just can’t discard) I grab a number and get to work.

Today I had these scraps to work with and although I don’t have any rules about no paints, I just found that these small pieces were enough. SO no paint was needed!

I do follow a few rules when it comes to collage. As Kristin (Altered States Studio) says collage pieces need friends. She has a create demo video on her blog check it out here. So that means I “connect” by allowing them to overlap or touch in some manner. I also typically start with larger foundational pieces before I move into some of the more detail smaller pieces. The other thing I talk you through in the video is being observant to where your eye is pull toward. I personally love pattern mixing but believe you need a dose of “simple areas” these are places where your eye can rest.

This cabinet is one of my most favorite pieces. I found this beauty on EBAY of all places and it was 20 hours away. See one of the other amazing things about being on social is all the friends that you meet along the way. My friend Tina didn’t blink when I messaged her to find out far she lived and said I can drive it down to you. WHAT!!

SO that is how this primitive handmade work of art ended up here. I love it and these drawers are just perfect for my giblet scraps.

The video of how I created this below.
